2023 Hyundai Sonata vs. 2023 Kia K5

The 2023 Hyundai Sonata has great fuel economy estimates with its impressive powertrain. This also gets a spacious and upscale interior for its price point. The user-friendly infotainment system also gives passengers a fun time during the travel.

That of the 2023 Kia K5 is gifted with a comfortable seating setup, and also promises a smooth ride all the time. It uses a straightforward infotainment system, and is loaded with standard features too.

Design & Style

There are plenty of high-end materials you will notice once you get inside the 2023 Hyundai Sonata. It is well-insulated against road noise too. Sitting up to five people inside, you will find plenty of legroom and headroom on both rows, it is also fitted with supportive seats for added comfort for users, which will help much during longer drives.

In the case of the 2023 K5 from Kia, you will notice a solidly-constructed, modern interior. One thing you will not love about it, though, is the inclusion of hard plastics which are very visible once you get inside it. Like the Sonata, it has 16 cubic feet of space left at the back when all seats are in use. This one comes with great cushioning for comfort, and can accommodate five passengers. The backseats come with a sloping roofline which limits space at the backseats, though.

Technology & Safety

The Hyundai Sonata uses an eight-inch touch screen display that definitely responds intuitively to user inputs.  It also comes with standard setup for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, and has six speakers, a USB port, Bluetooth, and HD radio. In terms of safety, it is loaded with plenty of features, including adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning, forward automatic emergency braking, lane-keep assist, lane-departure warning, lane-tracing assist, pedestrian detection, rearview camera, and driver-attention monitoring.

That of the 2023 Kia K5 also uses an eight-inch touch screen display with sharp graphics. It has four speakers, and four USB ports, and wireless smartphone integration. It has plenty of driver aids, which includes those found in the Sonata, but it misses on lane tracing assist, and lane departure warning.

Performance

There are also available engines that can hit up to 180 and 290 horsepower. Meanwhile, under the hood of the base K5, the score is registered at 180 horsepower, with another version that can reach up to 290 horsepower.

The Bottom Line

The 2022 Hyundai Sonata looks better than the 2023 Kia K5 in the cabin area. You will love it even more for having more standard driver aids than its Kia counterpart. It has better engine choices too. It definitely deserves to be part of your collection.
