Briarcliff Manor is a small town in Westchester County, New York. It is on the east bank of the Hudson River, about north of New York City. The area that is now Briarcliff Manor was first settled by Europeans in 1683. The village that would become Briarcliff Manor was founded on July 4, 1796, by John Andrew Hasbrouck, a farmer from Kingston, New York. He named it after his estate in England, Briarcliffe. The village became a part of the town of Ossining in 1806.
